Best Non-Rechargeable Batteries for Dive Lights

One of the things divers must consider before buying a dive light is the battery power the dive light relies on to operate. There are two kinds of batteries for dive lights: Rechargeable and non-rechargeable. Some divers prefer buying rechargeable ones, even if they cost more, because of their efficiency and long life. However, non-rechargeable batteries have their good sides, too. They might be disposable, but they can release enough light power through the dive light, sometimes more than rechargeable batteries. Also, if divers will just use the dive light for a short period of time, buying a torch with a non-rechargeable battery is more practical.

If you are more into the “affordability” side of purchasing dive lights, here are the best non-rechargeable batteries you can get for your dive light.

1.) Energizer Ultimate Lithium AA Battery. These are one of the most fantastic disposable lithium batteries ever made. They last up to 9x longer than other regular disposable batteries and are great at giving power to dive lights and cameras. Overall, these batteries are high-performing, especially when you factor in their very affordable price.

2.) Energizer HR6 NiMH Battery. NiMH batteries are well-known to be safe and high-performing when it comes to dive lights. Energizer NiMH batteries can definitely be reliable in many ways as they feature a 4x longer life than other batteries. After installed in a dive light, they will last for up to 6 months before they begin to deteriorate, or when the power runs out – whichever comes first. They have a good capacity and are very affordable in price.

3.) Non-rechargeable Alkaline Battery. The cylindrical alkaline primary batteries provide high performance and greater hours of service because of their zinc anode surface area. They are very cost-effective (the cheapest of them all) and can be stored for up to ten years.

Scuba Dave: Dave had the good luck of growing up in a family of divers: his mom is a PADI instructor and his dad is a wreck diver. He started working toward earning his open water diving certification as a freshman in high school, and by the time he graduated college he was a certified master scuba diver and PADI instructor. Dave loves to try new things, and is just as happy dipping into a deep lake as he is deep sea diving to explore underwater wrecks and caves. He documents everything with his camera, making him our resident expert in videography and photography lighting.
