Review: Archon Canister Diving Light WH36

Although there is no perfect dive light, the Archon Canister Diving Light WH36 offers divers of every level a great light, design, and something lightweight they can take along with them for nearly any dive. The light features 6500 k color temperature rating, an 8 mm poly-carbonate lens, and a durable aircraft grade aluminum body.

Features

  • Up to 3000 lumens of brightness for night dives and deep water diving.
  • An angle light beam of 8 degrees and 110 degrees periphery views.
  • A handheld bracket o-ring allows you to free up one hand while diving.
  • It uses three 26650 Li-ion batteries, and features battery over-discharging feature to avoid burnout.
  • At about 1300 grams, it won’t weigh you down while diving.

Pros

For those who are looking for a great dive light, this one won’t disappoint. It has a gas release valve, is waterproof up to 100 meters, has a premium hard-anodized protection sealant to cover the light, and features low, high, and strobe light settings. It can run for about 420 minutes on low, 210 on high, and 300 minutes when the strobe light function is utilized.

Cons

When comparing this and other dive lights, there are a few drawbacks to consider. Possibly the most notable is the price range, which might make it a little out of reach for some divers. It is a bit heavier at 630 grams (underwater) than other dive lights as well. It also requires a learning curve for newer or novice divers, especially with the o-ring grip, which might make it a better dive light option for more advanced divers.

Of course there are several options to consider when purchasing a dive light. For those who desire quality, design, and exceptional depth, along with long battery life, this is a great option, if you can cover the high price tag.
