The Essential Factors When Selecting Multi-Light Dive Lights

The question of, “Why do you need Multi-light dive lights?” definitely has an obvious answer. When you are diving deep, or at night, there is little to no visibility in the water. You will need to illuminate the surrounding area so that you can see the diverse life that happens undersea.

If you are an underwater photographer, you need the dive light to brighten your photo or film of creatures and multicolored coral reefs. Colors are absorbed by water according to the strength of their wavelength and energy. Red is the first to be absorbed at around fifteen feet depth, then orange at twenty-five feet, then yellow, green and so on, as you go deeper.

For your pictures or films to have real, beautiful colors at deeper depths, you need a dive light with red spectrum features. Amateurs will use filters on their cameras to capture the disappearing colors, but this will not yield the same high-quality results as using a red spectrum dive light. This kind of dive light adds more color, making the captured images spectacular.

The basic features of dive lights include – water resistance (some indicating up to what depths they can function at), grip handling, easy to use on/off button, and a wrist clip that helps to secure the light on your person at all times.

Different brands will come up with bonus features that have to do with the light distribution that is provided. There are two basic styles – the wide beam and the narrow beam. The multi-light feature of the dive light means that you can select the programmed colors that it has. Purple, red, blue, white, yellow, UV, and green are some of the settings that come with different brands of dive lights.

You will also need to carry two to three dive lights. This way, if your first one fails, you still have the backup(s) to use.

LED multi-light dive lights have a long lifespan that is important for seasoned divers who regularly use them. And if they come with a durable rechargeable battery, then you will use them for a long time. These are just some of the essential things you ought to consider when selecting your dive light.

NightDiver-Scott: Scott first experienced the thrill of exploring the ocean while snorkeling during his senior class trip in high school. After that, he threw himself into diving, working diligently to become a master scuba diver so he could achieve his goal of diving for a living. And that’s exactly what he’s done –a commercial diver by day and a PADI diving instructor by night, Scott loves taking his dips after the sun has gone down, and because of this, he’s super particular about the quality and functionality of the dive lights he uses.
